For over 35 years, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation has ensured the surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps special operators receive a college education. This summer, the foundation had 14 scholarship recipients celebrate college graduation. This graduating class brings the number to 250 students the foundation has assisted.

Brandon Barnes graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Marketing/Management. Brandon is the son of Air Force Staff Sgt. Brian Barnes, who lost his life in 1994 while assigned to the 16th Special Operations Squadron.

 

Heidi Bell-Cooling graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in literary studies. Heidi is the daughter of Army Command Sgt. Major Peter Bell, who lost his life in 1999 while assigned to the 19th Special Forces Group.

 

Kathryn Blais graduated from the University of New York with a degree in Elementary Education. Kathryn is the daughter of Navy SEAL Lt. Cmdr. Rock Blais, who lost his life in 2001 while assigned to the United States Special Operations Command.

 

Michelle Cogan graduated from Clover Park Technical College with a degree in surgical technology. Michelle is the daughter of Air Force Staff Sgt. John Blessinger, who lost his life in 1991 while assigned to the 16th Special Operations Squadron.

 

Nick Buehring graduated from The Citadel with a degree in history. Nick is the son Army Lt. Col. Charles Buehring who lost his life in 2003 while assigned to Army Central Command.

 

Mitchell Busch graduated from Ripon College with a degree in environmental studies. Mitchell is the son of Army Staff Sgt. Daniel Busch, who died in 1993 while assigned to the Army Special Operations Command.

 

Aaron Conner graduated from Samford University with a degree in elementary education. Aaron is the son of Sgt. Major Bradley Conner, who died in 2007 while assigned to 1st Special Forces Group.

 

Jennifer Dixon graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree in technical management. Jennifer is the step-daughter of Army CW4 Michael Wright, who died in 2006 while assigned to 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.

 

Angela Hughes Smalls graduated from Choice Technical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Angela is the daughter of Air Force Senior Airman Derek Hughes, who lost his life in 1992 while assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron.

 

Brandon Lackey graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in psychology and philosophy. Brandon is the son of Air Force Senior Master Sgt. James Lackey, who died in 2010 while assigned with the 8th Special Operations Squadron.

 

Cody Maltz graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in geology. Cody is the son of Army Sgt. First Class Michael Maltz, who died in 2003 while assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron.

 

Rebecca McNulty graduated from North Carolina University with a degree in psychology. Rebecca is the daughter of Army Master Sgt. Michael McNulty, who died in 2005 while assigned to the Army Special Operations Command.

 

Anthony Stefanik graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in finance. Anthony is the son of Air Force Capt. Anthony Stefanik, who died in 1994 while assigned to the 16th Special Operations Squadron.

 

Cheyenne Yost graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in communications. Cheyenne is the daughter of Army Master Sgt. Anthony Yost, who died in 2005 while assigned to the 3rd Special Forces Group.
